Reito Shin
The Frozen God | 21 | December 21 |
Hunter | D | Lawful Evil |
Male
Species Ability/Perk
- Enhanced Physiology. Being a Hunter, a being engineered for hunting and killing supernatural creatures, Reito's body is hardier than that of the average human. He has a higher endurance than regular humans, one stat tier higher, to be exact. However, this comes with the drawback of lowering his speed by one stat tier, because of the increased density of his skin.
- Enhanced Eyesight. As a Hunter, his eyes are almost twice as sensitive as those of normal humans, in order to aid him better in the endeavor of hunting near-mythological creatures. This allows him to see 25 meters farther than the average human at his current rank.
Special Unique Characteristics
Reito's real name is Cyril Romulus d'Blakc, but he took on the name Reito Shin to conceal his true identity from others. As for physical characteristics, he has a tattoo on his left shoulder blade in the shape of a sword with an icicle for a blade, wrapped in fog. He also has a near-invisible scar that runs from the outer corner of his left eyebrow, across his eye, and ends at the bridge of his nose.Character Depth
Personality: - Spoiler:
- As cold as ice, as mysterious as fog, as dangerous as a blizzard. These are three phrases that describe Cyril Romulus d’Blakc, also known as Reito Shin, best. He is not one that is given to expressing emotions, even to those closest to him. He is a true master at keeping his emotions and feelings in check, beyond even aristocratic indifference. He will act the same, even if he is angry, sad, or what passes for happy to him. This coldness extends not only to his business life, but also to his personal life. He has no interest at all in romance, and almost never will. Any woman that tries to seduce or court him will find themselves contemptuously rebuffed. Those that continue to press their suit he will casually injure simply as a warning. In the same way, he is uninterested in sexual relations. There is only one woman in the entire world that could possibly thaw his frozen heart and become the object of his affections, and this is his predestined soul mate. Even outside of his personal life, he is cold toward women, but never impolite. He will remain cold and aloof in the face of even the most determined pursuit. His cold, clipped, indifferent manner and responses will leave any woman confused, at a loss for words, and somewhat disappointed.
The only emotion he cannot control is pure, unadulterated rage. When he is feeling such a powerful emotion, he will fly into a destructive tantrum, more often than not lashing out with his magic in his fury. If the person or thing that caused him such rage is within his reach, he will stop at nothing to hunt them down and make them suffer. If they are beyond his grasp, his fury will instead be directed at any and every inanimate object in his immediate vicinity. When he is in such a state, no person on the planet could hope to calm him down, not even his soul mate. Those who try will find themselves attacked furiously. Only when his rage is sated will Reito calm down. When he is calm, he will immediately cease his rampage and continue on his business as cold and menacing as ever, as if nothing had happened.
It is not often that Reito does something purely out of the goodness of his heart. In fact, those times are, as of now, nonexistent. Whenever he does something for another person, he always has an ulterior motive, something he can get out of it. Though the underlying plot is there, it can be extremely difficult, almost impossible, in fact, for the ordinary person who is not used to dealing with Reito to discern. Despite the ulterior motive, Reito will complete his allotted or requested task silently, without complaint. The only time he would refuse to do something is if he could not see a way he could benefit from it, or if it directly contradicted what he stands for.
There are few things Reito will absolutely refuse to do, but one of these is to remove his helmet. This goes beyond a physical dependence, as it does not keep him alive. Instead, it is an emotional dependence. After years of wearing it, after he designed and constructed it himself, he feels vulnerable without it. This stems from the fear that if his identity is revealed, even in private to one person, his enemies will discover it and exploit it to their advantage. In addition to that, he feels that his identity is tied to the helmet, because it makes him the menacing person he needs to be.
Another thing he refuses to do is back down for anyone or anything. Regardless of who is asking him or what they are asking him to do, he will comply if he does not wish to. There is no coercing him into doing anything, even if the one most dear to him is asking. If someone is asking him to stop doing something, he will all-too-often ignore them and continue doing it. The more determined the person, the more likely they are to get callously injured as a mere warning.
In battle, Reito remains as cold, mysterious and dangerous as in any other situation. He will not hesitate to abandon his comrades if they do not live up to his standards and he feels that they will hold him back in the heat of the fight. Not even the most piteous plea for help or mercy will sway him. In any fight, whether it is against a true enemy or an ally in a mock battle, he is utterly determined to not only defeat the opponent, but destroy them so that they will think twice about challenging him again.
Under a leader, Reito will perform his duties silently and without complaint. The only time he would disobey an order is if it went against whatever ulterior motive he had at the time for following the orders in the first place. However, he will not disobey the commander directly, instead he will quietly amend or completely disregard the order. The fact that this may get him trouble with his commander does not faze him in the slightest.
As a leader, Reito truly shines. He gives orders without hesitation or mincing of words, exactly when he judges them to be necessary. He is a skilled tactician, placing those under his command exactly where they need to be right when they need to be there. He is not gentle, but he is not a harsh commander. However, as stated above, he will not hesitate to abandon those that do not follow his orders or those that he deems as not strong enough. This often gets him in trouble with his guild master.
- The color black. Since he was born, the color of night, the color of death and the color of despair has appealed to him. Not to mention the fact that having an outfit entirely composed of the color makes him more intimidating.
- His helmet. The helmet that he custom designed and created for himself at a young age to conceal his identity and make him more menacing is one of his most precious possessions.
- The cold. There's nothing more soothing and refreshing to him than bitingly cold air.
- The dark. Not only is the dark close to his favorite color, but it is all too easy to appear menacingly out of the dark. that, and it is more often than not colder than daylight.
- The winter. When the days get shorter and colder, this season is Reito's favorite due to the increased amount of coldness and darkness.
Dislikes:
- Heat. Heat is irritating to Reito, and makes his skin itch with displeasure and discomfort. Heat feels so oppressive to a man who is most used to the cold.
- Bright light. Dim light is alright, but brightness pierces the darkness and hurts his eyes, which are used to darkness, or at least dimness.
- The summer. The ultimate combination of heat and bright light is utterly detestable to him.
- Fire. The fact that fire puts off both heat and bright light is repulsive to Reito. Candles are alright, but roaring bonfires and any form of fire-based magic he simply cannot stand.
Fears:
- Losing his helmet. After spending so much time making it, and so much time wearing it, he has grown attached to the piece of equipment on a deep emotional level. To lose it would be like losing a piece of himself.
- Eternal summer. To have to experience heat and light for the rest of his life is utterly terrifying to him.
- Losing the one he loves most. This is his deepest and darkest fear. Though he is almost impossible to get close to, and purposefully so, he truly fears that one day he will meet his soul mate and then have them ripped away from him. Perhaps this is why he turns away from any woman who tries to woo him.
Motivations/Goals:
- Making eternal winter. He doesn't know how he will accomplish this, in fact, he has no idea he even wants this. But ever since he was a young child he has desired to make the winter last forever.
- Changing the future. In the timeline he is from, his mother is killed before his eyes when he was young. He desires to stop this from happening.
- Conquering Ishgar in the name of Animus Sin. Having heard of the failed attempt to take over the Magic Council, Reito has desired to help accomplish this goal since he was small.
