Nekomata | D | Neutral Good |
Female
Species Ability/Perk
Being a Nekomata, or cat spirit, Mao is nearly immortal and possesses cat-like features, including ears and a tail. Mao is ageless because she is connected to the spirit world, a dimension that transcends time. Cat Traits: Being, essentially, part cat, Mao has a few traits relating to her feline side, including enhanced senses and the fabled "Cat-like reflexes", meaning her reflexes are higher than the normal person's. All five of Mao's senses are enhanced, but none more so than her senses of sight, hearing and smell. These three are nearly double as sensitive as a normal human's, while the other two are half again as sensitive. As for her reflexes, they are also nearly double that of an average human, enough to catch arrows, dodge bullets, and catch things that fall off of tables and shelves. They also give her a 50-75% greater chance of dodging every other spell that is used in a thread that is equal to or below her rank.
Special Unique Characteristics
A pair of cat ears on the top of her head and a cat tail, both of which match the color of her hair.Character Depth
Personality: - Spoiler:
- Mao is a curious individual, being basically part-cat. At times she is happy and playful, like a small child, at others she is rather cold and aloof. She rarely acts her age, instead preferring to act like the child she appears to be. This means her mood can shift from happy to sad and pouty in a matter of moments. At times she can even be something of a tsundere, projecting an aura of cold hostility over her inner kindness. At other times, she can be flirty and seductive, to members of both genders. Of course, this seeming bi-polarity applies not only in her mundane life, but also in battle. In a less serious fight, either against an opponent she knows she can beat or against a friend, she retains her light-hearted, playful and flirty side. But when the battle turns more serious, she becomes almost sadistic, eager to defeat the enemy by any means necessary. She can turn from playful and adorable to deadly serious and back again in the blink of an eye, especially in the middle of a tense battle. If a comrade of hers is in danger, she will become focused and determined, aiming to rescue her friend or ally at any cost.
As a leader, Mao would be the worst. Her rapid personality shifts would likely leave her subordinates dazed, confused and doubting the one on whom they placed their trust. Under a leader, she is not much better. Depending on how her mood is, Mao can either follow orders to a letter with calm, focused determination or follow them in a light-hearted, playful manner, willing to disobey if she wants to. However, she will always do whatever is necessary to protect her friends and allies, and will go out of her way to do so. Even if it means disregarding orders, she will fight with everything she has to save or protect a dear one.
All in all, Mao's personality follows two templates, both in extremes of each other. She either acts like a cat, cold, aloof and unapproachable, or like a young child, playful and generally happy. However, these traits can flip-flop on a whim, meaning that she could sometimes act like a cat attached to its owners; Clingy, desperate for attention and exceedingly happy when she receives it, or a pouty child.
Likes: (3 minimum)
- Cats. Being a cat spirit, there's nothing she likes better than cats.
- Fish/sushi. After all, there's nothing better in a cat's eyes than fish. Particularly raw fish.
- Playing around. Like a child, she enjoys just playing with people.
- Candy. All kids love candy. If she could find fish-flavored candy, she'd be in heaven.
Dislikes: (3 minimum)
- Dogs. This is rather self-explanatory.
- Getting wet, because cats hate water.
- Things that are sour or bitter. Just like a child, her taste buds can't handle things with such extreme flavors. Oddly enough, she can handle spicy things, and even seems to enjoy them.
Fears: (3 minimum)
- Storms. Like a child, she is afraid of thunder, and storms generally mean rain, which is just water falling from the sky. (A.K.A. a cat's nightmare)
- Losing those close to her. Both cats and children get emotionally attached to others and lose a piece of themselves when they lose someone to whom they are attached, and this is also true for Mao.
- Eating a sour fish. To be expecting the sweet flavor of a fish but getting a disgusting sour flavor is one of the most horrific experiences she can imagine.
Motivations/Goals: (3 minimum)
- Finding someone she can grow up with. Despite acting like a child most of the time, Mao is aware that she is over a hundred years old, and she longs for someone she can love and grow old with.
- Finding the most tasty fish. Every cat's dream is to eat the world's most delicious piece of fish.
- Finding her sister. Many decades ago, Mao's beloved older sister vanished without a trace, and she wants to be with her again.
