* Neru was born without vocal cords, and is therefore mute. She cannot vocally produce sound in any way, shape, or form.
* As well as this, she has albinism, leaving her with a lack of melanin in her skin, eyes, or hair.


Character Depth


Personality:More than anything else, Neru is an inquisitive soul. She loves to learn things, and doesn't seem to notice much of what is going on outside of what she is currently interested in. In this way, however, she is similar to a cat. She notices much more than she lets on, but whether she acts on these pieces of information or not is something that's often something you'd have a better chance of getting correct by guessing than trying to figure out. This disinterest tends to give her a more wispy aura, almost as if she's not there often, though she may be present bodily. She can and will 'zone out' when she has a problem that she feels needs more attention than the current actions around her, but generally she stays rather alert. Neru considers truth to be one of the greatest virtues one can have in life, and will generally ignore those that she feels will lie to her until she's willing to trust them again. She herself would never intentionally mislead somebody unless life or death becomes involves. Life is something precious to her, and she's often not willing to kill anybody, even if they've done the most horrible things. While she won't kill anybody, she's perfectly fine causing hell for anybody she feels really deserves it. And all while holding a distracted look on her face.

Though she can seem like she doesn't care much for people around her, Neru will quite easily develop attachments to people that she likes. Very rarely will she simply indicate to you she wants to be your friend, or something else, but will simply go along with her life, occasionally pausing to simply sit in the general area you're in, or something similar. Social interactions scare her, in a way, so Neru avoids them, as that has always seemed to her the safest way to not screw anything up. It's one thing she can't seem to learn, though she has always been able to have things come more easily to her.

Emotions that she feels, and then shows, such as laughter, or tears, are generally hard to come by. You never quite know if she'll laugh her silent laugh at what you said, or simply give you a soft smile. Likewise, something that would seem not to affect her can leave her crying before she realizes it herself. Pain, for one thing, is something she's very empathetic to, and will try to relieve when she can, and in whatever way possible. Most often, she'd simply drag out the person who's experiencing the pain to do something that she knows they consider fun. If they're ill or injured, Neru will most likely bring food. On the flip side, she will smile often, more to keep people from worrying about her, though most of the smiles are only given when she realizes somebody has their attention on her. Those she cares about will receive more visible emotions from her than others, and those she feels really close to will often find their hair being braided, or their nose poked, or something else similar, as Neru is one that shows her affection more physically than anything else.

Then there are battles. These are the rare times that Neru will show total contempt or hatred. She will still refuse to kill, but one that has killed those she loves will find themselves very close to death. Neru is one that moves unexpectedly, when battling, often waiting for the last moment to dodge, as if she's too lazy to do it beforehand. Physical punches and kicks are often avoided, and more often she'll use a style that involves more of the person she's fighting hurting themselves, such as sweeping their legs out from under them. She will poke the one she is battling in the eyes if she gets close enough. This, to her, is her way of symbolizing her irritation with them, of that she has to fight because of what they've done. In a way, poking them in the eyes is her way of letting them see the pain that she's been forced to see because of what they've done. Of course she won't struggle just to poke somebody in the eyes. Most often, it is done after a battle, or when a person is immobilized, even temporarily.

She's also extremely protective in battle, and may end up spending her time watching out for other people than sticking to her own personal conflict. On occasion, she may simply run away from her own battle in hopes that she'll be followed until the person she's worried about becomes visible. At this point, she'll turn and attack as if nothing happened at all. Though she isn't intending to be disorienting, her personality can often give that effect during battle.


Likes: (3 minimum)

[*]Nature: The word 'nature' encompasses a lot of thoughts, but the nature that Neru prefers is true wilderness, where only animals reign as rulers, rather than humans. Though these places are few and far in between, she does her best to seek them out.

[*]Butterflies: Generally, it's their gracefulness that attract Neru. She knows not to touch them, however, and will often stop whatever she's doing when one appears, doing nothing but watching until it is out of sight.

[*]Sleep: Naps are something more familiar to her than her own hands. She sleeps whenever she can, and is extremely good at simply choosing a place and curling up.

[*]Nighttime: Yes, she does love sleeping, but she loves then night as well, the nighttime sky in particular. One of her favorite passtimes is to climb up on a roof at night and simply stare at the stars. Of course, she may or may not make people panic by falling asleep up there as well.

[*]Music: Coming to soft music in particular, she loves to listen to it, and to play it, when there is a piano or flute around. Given that those two instruments are the only ones she knows how to play, if she finds out that you can play one that she doesn't often get to hear, she'll probably bring the first one she finds over, and quietly insist that some music is played.

Dislikes: (3 minimum)
[*]Liars: Liars are held in the highest contempt to her, and are people she considers not to be worth even a small moment of her time.


[*]Loud Noises: Loud, jarring noises will often just end up scaring the shit out of her, so she tries to stay away from them if at all possible.


[*]Meat: Given that she considers nature to be something held very dearly, Neru has sworn of meat in all of it's forms.


[*]Eggs: The idea of eating a something that was once meant to be a living creature bothers her, and so she refuses to eat eggs.  She will, however, drink milk, as it was never meant to be an animate creature.


[*]Sneezing: Given that she believes hers makes her sound like a dying, voiceless kitten, she doesn't like to sneeze, which is just enhanced when people around her call her 'cute' for it.

Fears: (3 minimum)
[*]Death: She fears death in all of its forms, more focused on the death of others than her own death. She doesn't like losing things, and the fact that death could take people she cares for away from her at any moment is something that terrifies her.


[*]Claustrophobia (Small Spaces): Due to her inclination towards more open spaces, she's developed a fear of being trapped, over the years. Small spaces tend to give her panic attacks, and these are the few occasions that she is completely emotionally open to those around her.


[*]Being Grabbed From Behind: She prefers not to let people behind her at all, but if somebody sneaks up on her and grabs her from behind, she'll most likely freak out, possibly injure you, and then make sure you're always in front of her until she trusts you again.

[*]Spiders: Frankly, they freak her out. Too many legs, scary visage, and they bite. She stays away from them if at all possible.

Motivations/Goals: (3 minimum)
[*]Preserving Forests: She wants to preserve forests, or general places where nature reigns. These places, to her, are sanctuaries, and must be protected.


[*]Find a Family: Given that she'd never experienced the sense of a true family, Neru wants to find and build one of her own one day.


[*]A Way to speak: Generally, she doesn't mind not being able to talk, but she would like a way to clearly communicate what she wants to.
